I don't know if you have read my previous conversation with sectroyer, but in summary my needs are to decrypt my recordings and to continue to use Skype. As it turned out, this is not possible for the moment, but sectroyer said that he has something in mind, so I'll wait before rooting. Anyway, I was wondering if it is possible to have root working only "on demand".

Yeah you can use root on demand unplug USB (while TV is OFF) and no root Also you can do full TV reset and it brings up Skype

Your 3 USB-devices may be just fine for use with your average PC.

BUT .. For your TV you should use nothing slower than USB 3.0 standard.

Also, USB-device must be FAT32 formatted while you install root,
but when root is well installed, you should either record to another
device formatted as EXT4, or reformat first device to EXT4 and copy
the root-files back on it again .. This allows both root and recordings on same device, if you need.

The usb that i used was not usb 3.0... (6 usb disk tested )
I tried using the only usb 3.0 that i have fast reformatting it to fat32 (was ntfs).
No result...always the same error
I will try to slow reformat it.. It's a 64 gb sandisk usb 3.0 (like new).
If it still not work.. really i don't know what more can i test...
i will report you all my last test hope with a good result

ALWAYS use "slow reformat" Other options are just bulshit Anyway I had success with regular usb 2.0 stick But if there is ANY problem (even single byte/bit) it won't work You can also try using some usb disk (for instance used for recording) that should also work

First of all no need to reset anything on tv your problem is ONLY with samyext4.img Second thing is that NO new usb is "formatted by the reseller" If you read carefully package of ANY NEW usb disk you will find instruction and this instructions says "before using format"

Really i have no more ideas
Used a new usb 3 drive...
Formatted it as fat32 (slow method)
extracted the files into the 2 folders
Connected the usb to the tv...
It started the reboot series... at the end i'm able to ftp and from the log i can see always the same error
