I just successfully rooted my UN55HU8550 with firmware T-GFP8AKUC-1123.7!
# uname -a
Linux (none) 3.8.13 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Apr 9 11:10:22 KST 2014 armv7l GNU/Linux
Since this firmware is very old, I would like to update it to the latest rootable firmware. Does anyone know what that is and where to find it?

sec, how do the new firmwares get rooted... do you have tv's that you use to test, or have some other way of doing it, or restoring... otherwise if you cant do that then we wouldnt see many updates would we... would you say that the newest firmwares are never going to be rootable? or is it just a case of finding a new exploit... ?
- sorry, that was more than one question...

Well it's COMPLETELY different with H and not-H

On non H a lot of what you have written was true. On H we pray, make offerings to the gods and have faith that one day it will but nothing is possible if you DON'T disable OTN Support ASAP

Hi,
quick question for You guys.
Am I able to root UE40H6640 on FW 2606.2 or not, i know it's above that 2130? I don't wan't to brick the TV, I just bought it with this FW.
Also is it only way to decode .srf file?
Thank you so much in advance.

No, because it's above 2130

There's no risk of brick, only risk is that root doesn't work.

Yes.

Yes.
As far as I examined the rooting app the libskype.so library from the skype app is replaced by a modified one. This replacement cannot be undone if rooting is not successful. The skype app is not working anymore on the TV.
So, wait until your firmware version is rootable or find a way yourself to root and share with us

Wrong. It has been reported many times that changing Smarthub country twice (to another, then original) restores working Skype.

If you have the original libskype.so then you can copy it to TV same way as you copied the modified one.
Or you could switch to Smart Hub region that has no Skype app. This will delete it and when you switch back to your region it will download it again.
Or you could reset your TV.
All these methods work, I have tried myself.

Ok, thanks for the hint. Now I found out that I had to key in a special sequence on the remote to just change the smart tv region.
Btw. Is there a source repository where I can find the source of the modified skype lib?
Maybe I could help to find a new rooting method? I am stuck with 2135.4.
