Block the Samsung servers in your router, in a topic in this forum are the ip adresses. But its not guaranteed if there are a new root in future available.

Nope it's "guaranteed" there WILL be new versions and it also "guaranteed" that blocks " Samsung servers in your router" will NOT help you. You still WILL get firmware updates :)

Than disable OTN Support ASAP. No other way to get root working :)

But it can be an _additional_ measure. When I was hit by the
Playing_with_SW_Model_silently_changes_OTN_support-(mis)feature
I found URLs like these in my proxy logs later:

05.03 10:10:43 178911 192.168.128.128 TCP_MISS/206 159323820 GET http://az43064.vo.msecnd.net/firmware/t ... Item_1.dat - ORIGINAL_DST/az43064.vo.msecnd.net application/octet-stream
05.03 10:20:07 151215 192.168.128.128 TCP_MISS/206 134846634 GET http://az43064.vo.msecnd.net/firmware/t ... Item_8.dat - ORIGINAL_DST/az43064.vo.msecnd.net application/octet-stream

So blocking with an url_regex like vo\.msecnd\.net/firmware/tv/ does
of course not _guarantee_ that you'll get spared by those bloody
updates but it might help.

I for myself decided that in future I will enter the (extended) SM only
with a removed network cable and when finished, I will re-enter the
normal SM again just to check OTN stuff is still in place before
attaching the network. And then I will carefully watch the logs of
the proxy to see what the TV is doing...

Apart from that, I can only pray that there will be some rooting
method for MST14DEUC 2604 one day ;-(

Last time when we did inform that blocking on router might be "additional measure" 95% users decided to do that and guess what 95% of users got silent updates :P

Well, I assume that 99% of user's routers aren't capable of intercepting, parsing and
regex-blocking HTTP traffic so the whole discussion might not be applicable for the
average user anyway ;-)

But since I had to learn that just _looking_ at the various BOM model entries without
even _changing_ them re-enables that fuckin' OTN crap I don't know what other
funky ideas are lingering around in the fw. Maybe one day the OTN shit gets enabled
automatically or by whatever way and then I will be happy to have rather non-permissive
rules. I am now filtering .*firmware.* and .*t-?mst.* and so on entirely for the tv set -- it
doesn't cost me anything but for sure I don't rely on that exclusively.

Of course, when it comes one day to ssl based updating all this will be void again (until
you find a way to root 2604 and we have a way to modify the CA certs sitting in the TV ;-)).

No it will NOT!!! If any such problems occur we will tell you what to do. Also when you visit service menu you should ALWAYS check if OTN is set to OFF. Also we already had some info about SSL-based updates ;)

I hope this is true but I never would be too sure about that...

Sadly for me, in the time it took for me to check what version the current firmware was, plug in the usb stick and remove otn it had updated the firmware... however, with it coming from samsung only recently, it had already a firmware version greater than the most recent listed as capable of being rooted LE40H7000 my previous LE40F6740 was happily rooted before I had TWO failed screens in 8 months!

Although when i ran SamyGo, everything did complete, GREEN - OK... so if its not really rooted, why does everything appear to have gone without a hitch?

This part is H only. With F there are different reasons. Now "GREEN - OK" means root "installation" did succeed whether (AFTER installation) rooting itself will work depends on firmware version :) Never plug Samsung TV to internet BEFORE disabling OTN Support. If you DON'T disable OTN Support now you may be sure that you will NEVER root your H TV :)
