The Samsung UE40ES6710 model has a DVB-T/C/S2 tuner. In my country (Croatia) they started to broadcast some channels in DVB-T2 standard. And of course my tv couldn't "see" the DVB-T2 channels. I wondered if I could change that by somehow upgrading my tv and not by getting an external DVB-T2 tuner. I found out that in the ES series, tv model numbers which end with the number 7 have DVB-T2 support. And so I found out that the UE40ES6717 model (which is for the Ukraine market) is basicly the same as mine but with DVB-T2 support. The internal tuner of the tv is a little metal box (in which there are electronic components) soldered on the mainboard of the tv. I found out the the samsung part number of?the UE40ES6717 ukraine model's internal tuner (BN40-00238b) and orderd it from an authorized samsung service. Since the tuner isn't for the Croatian market, the service guys had little trouble ordering such a part, but they found a way and ordered it for me. When the tuner arrived, I opened my tv and took out the mainboard. Gave the mainboard to a service where they unsoldered the old tuner and they soldered back the new ordered tuner. Screwed back the mainboard in place, pluged my tv, went into the Service Menu, and changed the tuner option from DVB_TCS2 to DVB_T2CS2, restarted my tv, scaned the channels, and the DVB-T2 channels were visible to my tv. So now I have a DVB-T2 supporting tv. Hope this helps someone. Cheers!!

Hey Miazza... Are you still on this project? Do you have any additionaly information about needed new DVB-T2 hardware for ES8000?
I have ES7000 actually - but they are almost the same...

ES7000/8000 has BN40-00238A DNTD243VH144A installed...

I bet BN40-00238B DNTD243VH144AA will fit also ...

For the moment in Italy DVB T2 is not yet applicable.
I have just verified that the tuner is available on the market and I found that on e-bay there are some that should fit as Samsung replacement.

As said, I will apply when the T2 will become effective in itali

Don't forget you won't find any E mainboard with HEVC decoding (if DVB-T2 and HEVC are coming together, which seems to be the case in Italy, like it will in France but much later ).

mmm yes - seams so that DVB-T2 and HEVC are comming together also in Germany - So that means this modification seams to be useless (for Germany)

I try to upgrade my ES8000 (living in Austria) to DVB-T2 (no need for HEVC).

I have a different tuner currently built in; it's a BN40-00236b (TDHZ3-K03A). The pin layout seems to be the same than the BN40-00238b. The tuner in Service Menu is set as ALPS_TCS2. I think I could hardware wise swap the tuner, but in the Service Menu I have no DVB_TCS2 or DVB_T2CS2 entry. Instead only one for DVB-T2 called ECHO_T2CS2. How important is this setting?

I am in contact with a service shop of Samsung but so far they couldn't confirm what has to be done.

In my ES6710 the previous DVB-T tuner was BN40-00238A and the service menu setting was DVB_TCS2. It may be an important setting for you I don't know.
