H7150 Local Dimming option in Service Menu

I have a question about the Service Menu for my H7150. If this is the wrong thread I would appreciate if someone can point me to the right thread.

In the service menu I under Options I see an option for "Local Dimming Panel" and it's set to OFF. I've changed various settings in the picture type etc but it's always OFF.
I understand that this TV doesn't have (atleast what Samsung says) hardware local dimming (which the H8xxx series do). So does anyone know what this option does? Wondering if the hardware is there but just isn't enabled in the menu?

Local dimming is supposed to enhance contrasts by some obscure method of "washing more white than white" only Samsung knows. I'm supposed to have it on my TV (mid-end E) but I've never been able to know if it was really enabled or not. Seeing the fake demo of this feature TV owns in shop mode, I'd say it's more commercial argument trying to make-believe edge LED can be "like full LED".
My advice: just believe it

Basically the H7150 has implemented software local dimming vs H8000 has hardware and there's a significant difference between the quality of the two.

Given that, I'm wondering if this option enables hardware dimming in the H7150 (ie the hardware exist but just isn't enabled) and what's the side effect of enabling it?

Well like I said in my other post I enabled it for a few seconds and then turned it off and nothing happened. I posted here wondering if anyone knows
1. what that option does
2. if there is hardware based local dimming in the H7150 which can enabled via a software option
3. What could be the downside of enabling that option

Nothing, you've just confirmed it.

No need for special hardware nor software to do nothing.

In worst case you'll notice nothing happened. In best case too
