TV builtin recording functionality for input signal AV and EXT(RGB)

Hi All,

I have a Samsung TV UE55F8000.
I would like to use the TV builtin recording functionality in order to record the signal coming from one of the following inputs:
- AV IN (using RCA connector)
- EXT(RGB) (using Samsung Scart Adapter)
If I am watching a TV program I can start a recording without any issues.
When I am changing the TV source to AV or EXT and when I am trying to start a recording it gives me the message "Unavailable".
I checked the TV manual and I was not able to find something that can help me.

Please let me know if there is a way to be able to have this functionality - use builtin TV recording for AV or EXT input source.
In case the TV is rooted can this be achieved? (I am already planning to root it)
Is there an app that can be installed and make this type of recording possible?

Thank you in advanced!

Simply impossible, TV doesn't own any hardware encoder and is far from having software resources to do so.
The best you can get is about 1 jpg per second using libScreenShot (without audio!)
If signal is coming from Scart/Composite, you can afford a 5 bucks Chinese capture card and easily record using your PC :)

I was afraid that this was not possible but I wanted to have a confirmation.

I tried to use an adapter and to record the video on my PC. Unfortunately the quality that is recorded by the PC is poor.
I have tested the Samsung TV recording and found that the video quality is preserved and decided to try to use the TV instead of the PC.

Thank you for your reply!

If you compare (encoded) analog to (native) DTV HD there are chances yeah, no capture card can do miracles anyway ;)

Only HDD Recorder that supports analog will work. I have such device and I get very nice picture even with lowest settings. With best quality I get razor sharp picture :)
