AC3 and DTS optical output on internal USB media player (ue48H6800)

Hello.
I have a UE48H6800.
I tried search here but couldn't find what I need, or maybe I didn't understand very well.
I want to play my 5.1 surround ac3 or dts movies with passthrough from the media player to the optical output, but actually it won't do it, the options are greyed out.
Unfortunately the firmware is up to date.
If I miss the correct sub-forum or thread, please point me there.
Thank you very much in advance.

Do you have AC3 or DTS working over optical output on any other hardware? As far as I know the bandwidth of S/PDIF is simply too limited and those audio codecs can only be passed via HDMI.

Yes obviously: I'm talking about normal 5.1 AC3 and DTS, maximum bandwidth is about 1.5 mbps for such lossy codecs, that's the maximum b.w. of the spdif standard.

You're probably mistaking them for the lossless Master Audio codecs, more recently adopted by HDDVD and Blu-Ray standards.
