Un55du7200dxza PVR issues

I have a un55du7200dxza to replace my 55" 3d led samsung that finally died.
I enabled the pvr to true. In the MRT options menu, then backed out buy hitting the factory button twice. I was prompted to test external USB, then asked to format. Then when I tried to use timeshift it would bring up a menu bar at the bottom of the screen. It looked like it was going to work but it gets stuck on preparing before popping up the error " Fail to start Timeshift. No information for timeshift."
So I've read through everything I can find in the forum . I tried a brand new usb drive. No change
I changed region from USA to KOR it made me do another chan scan but couldn't find any channels, so I changed it back to USA.
Please help I miss my timeshift
