As the author of this hack says, you must wait:
Either 3 minutes and reboot TV manualy
Or until you get telnet, but no more than 3 minutes.
Sure, you could wait 30 minutes or more, you can wait 24 hours to be sure...

It should work, but i can`t confirm you, because i do not have it
If you have old cellphone data cable with TTL converter, you can use it as well.

yes, that`s correct. USB contains two partitions. One fat32 and second - ext3. To format /mtd_rwarea you don`t need any hack USB. Just exlink cable.
USB is needed only for rooting purposes. Do not change any files/symlinks, leave it as is.
