I don't think if it's related with size of stream...
Problem might probably in "codec"...
MKV is just a container format. It does not a codec. Your video might be coded with xvid, x264, vc1 and any other codecs. You cant guess it via looking file name.
There is lots of program for identifying video file structure and which codecs used in it. (like Gspot)
Please analyze those files and find the difference.
If you can paste statistics of files here, than we could guess where is the problem.

You don't pasted 720p files information for comparison...
Anyway, I look this info. the more important part is:

Code: Select all

Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : High@L5.1
Format settings, CABAC : Yes
Format settings, ReFrames : 8 frames
Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Your C series TV probably don't allow High@L5.1 profiles. At least B series doesn't allow such a profile.

Looked at C6000's manual and it says at page 40 "Supports up to H.264, Level 4.1 "
So this film is 1 lever bigger than your TV could view :)

Himmm, why don't you use my Meteorite program? Link available on my signature.
That program let you watch MKV movies before completing download...

Start the download, wait some MB downloaded comes, than repair the MKV file with Meteorite and check with GSpot.
That will do the trick ;)

And I think forcing with MKV headers could do the trick too, without re-encoding..
A standalone program H264 Level Editor has been made for the job already.
