Did you manage to root the bd? I have the same one and also want to root the bd, to play the records on my pc.

the 2. point is that you can't root the bd player, the widget method is for arm based d series and for some mipsel (d-5xxx)
TV's...

not before new ES models are on the market and first firmware update by samsung is released.

but how can it be, that there is a root access to the bd-d6900? I think there must be any way to get it working on the d8509s...
