It is possible to install series D Firmware on series C TV (I.E. UNxxD8000 on UNxxC8000), since the hardware apparently is the same?

Try it yourself and tell us.

Seriously though, I would advice against it. It?s not like Windows XP or some other computer os. The drivers could be missing or totally different from your own.
