Serial problem

I have a built ex-link cable this
I can also create files (see Appendix)

but unfortunately they are not readable (only numbers and special characters)
I tested it with cutecom; cu; Putty Ubuntu

what is wrong?

tv is a UE46ES6340

Nor readable text usually means wrong connection parameters (speed etc...)

You maybe missing important thing -> this ex-link cable is primary for B-series, not for E-series!
I had same problem, you need TTL level RS232 version ... like this
And please check and prove where rx and tx are located at jack side ... see this
