Channels not saved! "No stored channels found"

After having messed around with root shell, I accidentally sent some garbage to Micom device.
Then my TV stopped saving my channels, even after Factory Reset in service menu and doing Auto Tune. :(
Every time I do any of the following:
a) disconnect/reconnect power,
b) or switch to/from "Air" and "Satellite",
c) use the Service Menu:

[MENU][MUTE][power],
I get greeted with :
"No stored channels found. Please run Auto Tuning."
Not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

No, that was the first thing I checked. No, log as the error appeared after having done two bad things as explained
here. (1) Send random characters to Micom device /dev/ttyS1 and (2) Accidentally ran /etc/profile after trying to open a shell, that runs a Micom rollback & re-partitioning script, while desperately hitting CTRL-C. Just updated FW to 1029, but still same problem. (Funny thing is that Factory Reset, does not clean out everything! Old widget's are still there, for example. )
Any ideas where channel info is stored? Perhaps it is disabled or "full"?
Also, there are a couple of settings in Service Menu, that I wonder about:
Code: Select all
PC Auto Ident Enable
OTP Lock Failure
Auto Power MEMORY
FKP Down
e-Pop Default ON

Entered Service Menu, set RS-232 to "debug", and did another factory reset.
Re-tuned and setup network, then setup Smart Hub with "developer" account.
Turned OFF and ON TV a few times, after waiting. Now it seem that channels are saved.
(But I have not tested all, and also noticed that USB channel list import/export failed...)
I really wish I knew whats happening behind the scenes (OS wise).
It seem that the TV need some time to "settle", before channels are stored...
But I do not recommend anyone to update firmware, as from FW >= 1030, we can no
longer use SamyGO and possibly the current root solution. (Correct me if I'm wrong or
if there are new updates.) If you really must update, only use the smallest version
after your current one.
From a developer point of view, we should really know where and how the channels are stored!

I had the same kind of issue with channels (and also ip settings) that were not saved.
In fact, I had a corrupted mtd_rwarea (explained
here)

On my BD, the channels are stored in /mtd_rwarea/map-AirD and /mtd_rwarea/map-AirDb

Thanks! Good to know for next close-brick-encounter.
So far it seem that the problem fixed itself...

I have some similar problems:
- The Channel option is
DISABLED. I do not know how it happened (perhaps while I tried to activate the PVR option).
- I upgraded the fw to version 1030/1031,
- I tried factory reset,
- Channel options is still DISABLED
- I partly solved the problem (restored the channel list from USB),
- any idea what to try?
- Or perhaps if someone could make screenshots with all the stuff settings in the Service menu, so I can change some settings manually?

If the problem is damaged mtd_rwarea, then you can
format this partition trough ExLink and TDM.
Be careful. Formatting wrong partition can brick your TV. Check it first trough TDM before to start formatting.

I had the same too. By my stupidity I ran /linuxrc. It executed /etc/profile and formatted
/mtd_rwarea /mtd_drmregion_*
I hadnt have a chance to repair it because i went to SM and tried to reset all I could.
I bricked my TV with Micom reset or something like this ! It stopped react to remote control.
Be very careful with micom !
Then i had warranty repair. They replaced MB.
Its good idea to have DD dumps of all /mmcblk. May be restoring formatted partition would help.
