Manually uploaded widgets get deleted on restart

I am able to upload widgets to my TV over ftp but every time I turn my TV on and go to Internet@TV, it says it needs to update and deletes them.
Is there a way around this?

add <type>user<type> to your widget`s config.xml file.

Thanks. I have also found another way: add/change <autoUpdate>n</autoUpdate> and then put your widget in an existing widget's folder, so for example if you have Picasa installed in folder 11101000000, delete everything from this folder and put the widget of choice in there. Unlike <type>user</type> this will show the widget's icon.
