SamyGo Remote with C6005?

I would like to use the SamyGo Remote app by Tom Quist on my Android phone to control my Samsung TV.

According to the description of the SamyGo Remote app and according to Toms' blog post all C-series models with Internet@TV should work with this app without any modifications. Unfortunately, the C6005 is one of those models in the C-series that does NOT have the Internet@TV feature.

When I purchased this model I was considering getting a model with Internet@TV. But they were asking for a premium price, just for this stupid thing. A premium price just to get Internet access??!! I refused to give them that much money just for this. I didn't need any of the other shitty features they were offering. But here's the irony: this model is equipped with Ethernet port. So it is completely ready for networking! And I even bought the Samsung WiFi dongle for it, so I have both wired and wireless connectivity. But it only works on local networks?... That really sucks! How were they thinking? A TV that can communicate over a network but is not allowed to connect to the outside world? It's like having a car with no wheels!

I do have Internet access by the use of a media hub. But this just shows how low Samsung is prepared to sink... In the year after that, that was 2011, new models arrived, the D-series. In this series almost every single model was Internet enabled, even the D5000 models. Just as I expected.

On his blog, Tom says that B-series users should run an app on their TV called "Remote Lan Control". This will supposedly allow them to use the SamyGo Remote app. And for C-series users he says that they should just enable an option on the menu to allow for remote control signals over the network. What other options do I have?
To enable your TV to receive remote control signals over the network, go to the System-Settings in the TVs menu. If there is no such menu entry, your TV is not supported.
So I'm kind of in between these options. I do have a C-series TV. But I don't have the Internet@TV feature. So I don't have that option on the Menu. Not that I could find at least...

So should I follow the instructions for the B-series and run "Remote Lan Control"? Or just let be and buy myself a new TV?

Model name is UE46C6005RW and Firmware version is T-VAL6DEUC-1006.0.

Don`t mix B and C series instructions. your TV is C series, so you have to enable Remote control in menu. You don`t need Internet TV for this, your required menu should be in main menu-network. I`m not sure about C600x, can be, this feature is missing.

It should say "Wireless Remote Control" or "Network Remote Control" right? I don't see any such option under Network. I see "SWL Connect" but that's a whole different thing. So I guess it's not included in this model and I won't waste any more time on this. In the end, I have my remote control, no need to use a phone as a remote anyway.

But I should mention that the remote control for many Samsung TV sets is a total shit, hundreds of owners have complained, and for this model that I am using right now I have replaced the remote three (3!!!) times on warranty. This is the fourth remote I am using, and this one finally works as expected. I was very close to returning the whole damn TV set because of the shitty remote control that came with it. The first thing they tell you is "did you try changing the batteries". The batteries were never more than 1 month old, freshly opened and inserted. I practically lived on Duracell batteries during the time I was testing the replacement remote. They (Samsung support) even thought me a weird trick where I short out the battery connectors, to drain out capacitors or something... I guess. But none of those things helped. And they refused to admit that their remote was faulty by production.

So in some circumstances it could be much safer and reliable to use a smartphone as the remote (which I now found out is not possible with this model) or a simple universal remote. That would be much better than the Samsung original remote, simply because their remotes don't work as expected. The problem with mine was that ti didn't always respond when I pushed the buttons. I would get a new remote from the seller, put in fresh batteries in it, it would work flawlessly for two weeks maybe and then start glitching again. But here's really weird thing: if I took out the batteries and then put them back in, Voila!, it started working perfectly again. What the hell?! And they said there's nothing wrong with the remote, it's my batteries they say. So every two weeks I had to take out the batteries and put them back in.

So for this reason alone, I wish I could use my smartphone as a remote for this TV. Oh well... screw them! Next time I'm getting a Sony or Philips. Now those are the brands that know TV.
