Hello all, after many hours of research and trying workarounds I've realized that the bd-c5500 firmware can't be downgraded through the DNS trick or patched with the python code. There is no USB firmware update option in my region 1 bd player as stated in the wiki but I've used that info to do a successful disc swap firmware downgrade by removing the lens cover of the player and swapping CDs with the .ruf f/w file burnt to the root of the discs before it powers down to do the upgrade. Anyway does anyone have the zips of the older firmware files like bsp-c5500wwb-1021.4.ruf as stated on the "old & good firmwares" page and if anybody archived other older f/w like before the c******a stuff I would like to try those as well.

Thanks guys, never thought I have to fiddle with a disc player like this but its been pretty fun (and very frustrating)
