Installing 3rd-party drivers

I'm new to Samsung TV hacks so sorry if my questions seem stupid!

I plan to buy E-series model soon. The way I understand is that the Samsung runs on a Linux OS. Is it possible to install 3rd-party drivers once there is root access? e.g. driver for USB Wi-Fi dongle. Open-source Linux drivers are available for my USB dongle.

Will there be major challenges or is just a matter of compiling and installing like on a regular Linux OS?

yes, you have either use correct dongle with changed vid and pid, or you can compile required driver against correct kernel sources. but this solution generates more headache than success. even with correct driver here are troubles to setup network via tv graphical interface, here is no easy solution, question remains open.
