Android Tablet or Smartphone as Bluetooth keyboard

Post by mito »

Hi,
the topic is not really "TV-Hardware-Related" but I'm looking for a solution to use an Android Tablet or phone as a Bluetooth keyboard for the TV. Is there any app or widget for typing text?

HI

My TV: Samsung UE46F6400
My Phone: Samsung Galaxy S2 v.4.1.2
App: Samsung Smart View v.4.0.3
Working: perfectly

I use official Samsung Smart View app available on Google Play to control TV also including that what you need - keyboard. When I tap text area in any app on TV then on phone screen I can see actually default phone keyboard, you can also use voice to type text like as Smart Pilot. With this app you can see TV screen on phone but i'm not really sure that all models TV, phones, tablets etc. support this function. Of course this app have a touch pad. You can switch between 3 pilot variants including options:

1. Channel Up/Down, Volume Up/Down,
2. Return, Tools, Info, Exit, Touch Pad,
3. Full option without Touch Pad.

Switch between options is very fast because all the time on screen You see variant buttons.

In level up menu (main menu) there are following options:

- On/Off function,
- actual screen displayed on TV with sound (it is almost real time but this function is a little bit delayed relative to the TV)
- pilot (that what I wrote at first),
- game controller (arrow buttons, 4 colourful buttons, return, exit, enter),
- channel (this function show actual channel list, you can see guide/search/switch channels on phone without display this options on TV),
- manual.

In main menu cloned screen from TV is displayed in small window but if You tap it window will change orientatation to horizontal and sreenn switches to fullscreen mode. Will be also displayed volume up/down and channel up/down buttons.

Your question was about keyboard but I can't stop writting about this app. For me it is fantastic solution that I wrote everything because I think after read this description You desire it.

I can't think what would have happened if had never written this application. My wife, kid, sometimes put on pilot in place unknown for me that I can not find it, but my phone is always with me :)

Apps on Google Play:

Samsung Smart View - v.4.0.3 - 41M - requires Android 2.2 and newer

Samsung Smart View tz - v.4.1.4 - 23M - requires Android 4.0 and newer

Samsung Smart View tab - version and size depends on the type of device - requires Android 3.0 and newer

Have a nice use :)

Which version You tried to use?

Try also

Smart TV Remote v.2.0.0 - 1024k - requires Android 2.2 and newer

When You turn on app and succesfully connect phone with TV on the right down side of main screen You will see inscription SMART TV. Tap it and slide to option on the left side. There is box to type text using standard phone keyboard and then click "SEND". Maybe this soluton will be helpfully for You. I don't know this app good because I used it maybe 2 or 3 times. It's my emergency option if something bad would happen with Samsung Smart View v.4.0.3.
