Can you DL widgets to your PC when you have root?

I was just wondering if you can transfer widgets to you PC once you have gained root access to your F series?

I was thinking that it would be easier to transfer widgets from your PC if you reset the smart hard to use Skype and then use the SammyWidgets app to transfer the widgets back that you want.

Ok so you can transfer your widgets to your PC once you have root access.

They transfer back ok into a different smart hub locality by ftp. However, if you zip them and try with the SammyWidget transfer they come up as encrypted.

Is there any way to unencrypted them so you use the SammyWidget transfer rather than ftp? That way you could transfer them to a TV that has only been logged in with the Developer account.

Another question - the only widget that wont work after transferring it by ftp is netflix. Is there a trick to ftping this back to a different region smart hub?

you could try vpn server to point Netflix to proper geolocation.

No problem with Geo location as if I use the UK smart hub the netflix widget works fine. It is just if I try to copy the UK netflix widget to another region smart hub that it then wont even load. Other widgets transfer fine to different region hubs and then work. So far of the widgets I have tried it is only the netflix one that doesnt work. Will try your SMPdecrypt with the netflix and see how I go :)

This happened to me as well. I transferred the UK region netflix onto my australian region smart hub and it would just hang on a black screen when i tried to open it. :S Any ideas why or how to fix this?

So far I think netflix is a priority app and only works in it own region. Easier to pick a region with netflix and add other apps to that.

I think I have found out why Netflix app works only on its own region Smart Hub and why the new v4 doesn't work on non US firmware. It seems it downloads another .zip when you download the app. This .zip contains most of the Netflix app and it probably gets deleted when you change smart hub region. We need to find out where it is stored on TV. If we can find that out, it may be possible to just copy it there after changing region.
I can't find this out because I don't have root access on my evolution kit. If anyone wants to help, contact me and I will tell you what to look for.

No one is interested?

I found out where the other part needs to be, but I don't have root so I can't copy it there. Anyone wants to try?

Can't you use the script in Samygo to install those files? just point it to the folder's you want the files in?

I tried but it didn't work. I'm not sure if it has no access to write to that folder or the folder gets deleted on reboot. We need someone with root access to check what happens.

The new Netflix v4 is not even available for Evolution Kit. I got it installed, but the same thing happens as others have reported. I get black screen and then it returns to TV source.
On other forums people say that some have contacted Netflix and got told that the app checks TV region. I don't believe that because it seems to crash before it even loads (it doesn't even display the "Loading Netflix" text) and I can't find in code that it checks region (Vudu has this check and it was easy to find and fix). I also found some people with US TVs who have the same problem, so to me it looks like a firmware issue or a issue downloading the other part of the app.

I also have a bd-f6500 player and the new Netflix app is available there and it even works. I will give it a try and see if this samygo app edit can copy apps to it. If it can, we found a way to install apps on bd players. I will also try to copy Netflix to it and see if it works there.

EDIT: I edited the Samygo app some more, i added a check to confirm if both parts of the app get installed.
Good news is that yes, it is possible to use SamyGO app editing to install apps on Blu-ray player. Maybe someone who knows javascript better can make a dedicated app for this?
Second good news is that i even did get Netflix app (v4) working in a Smart Hub region where it is not available. So there is no Smart Hub region check, it only needs both parts of the app. This should work with the v3 app too.
Bad news is that it looks like the new Netflix app (v4) needs a newer Smart Hub version than it is available for non US TV's. So it seems we just need to wait until the new UI is released in UK, they should release a SmartHub update at the same time.
To confirm this theory, can someone with F series TV post their Apps Version? You can find it in Menu > Smart Features > Apps Settings > Properties > Apps Version. Is it 5.221?
