FW Upgrade & power loss

Hi,

I?ve a little question about upgrading the firmware of a UE40C6700 ...

What is going to happen when you start a firmware upgrade and while the TV is upgrading the firmware the power cord get?s unplugged or USB stick is removed ...

Do they have a emergency routine so that if this happens (probably a Fw upgrade could go wrong without unplugging the TV/stick) does the Fw automatically get installed from USB if there is a valid FW version/image at the stick ?!

The Idea behind it is that I want to downgrade my firmware cause at the previous version it was possible to enable the PVR funtionality, which has been fixed at the next version.

Today a new Fw upgrade was released so I thougt when interrupting the actual update so that the Fw at the TV is invalid, the older version could be flashed at the TV if there is an energency routine which automatically starts the upgrade from USB.

And probably with the emergency routine (if one exists) an older version could be flashed at the Tv cause the actual version number also should be missing when there is no working Fw at the TV.

Hope it was understandable what I mean, or is this Idea just stupid :)

Regards

I dont really know if this is true for C series, but Samsung actually has implemented an emergency feature.
If the FW on the TV is corrupt, becaue of a failed Update, it will automatically switch to a backup partition with another copy of the Firmware.

This backup may hold the older version you want, so maybe you wanna try it. Do it at your own risk ;)
For my B series TV it worked. I had 2007 FW on it, and after a failed update I have 2005 FW now.

How did you interrpt/corrupt the firmware update ?!

Is always tha last working firmware stored at the backup partition or is the delivery firmware stored there ?

I dont know which FW it holds, since I never updated before.
The corrupted FW was a result of playing with the debug menu on my TV. But cutting the power while updateing should do the same

But at my set I can see the alternative Version in the Software Update menu on the TV.

Hi,

thx for the reply!

Hmm Ok here is nothing to see as alternative software ...

Soo now I have the question just to try unpowering the TV while updating or not ... at the other side the TV is just little bit older than 2 weeks so warranty should not be a problem if something is going wrong I think.

Anyone else arround here has any infos if there is a rescue option !? in fact of corrupted firmware ?

Regards
