Hello everybody. I have bought used UE40D7090 - firmware 1013. As far as I know it is a German model while D7000 is an European model. When selecting country auto tuning channels there are only 3 options: Germany, Austria and Swiss. However there is more optional countries at selecting menu languages. Mine problem is that while playing videos from USB HDD some characters in srt subtitles aren't represented right. TV set shows characters in Western European coding (WIN CP 1252) not in Central and Eastern European coding (WIN CP 1250) which is my preferable CP, so some characters doesn't show right. I am almost sure that Samsung sets have no problems with different CP if the setting is right. I think CP in this case is related to the choice of the country auto tuning channels or maybe even to a German specific model. Does anyone know how to change setting to different CP? Should a model be changed to D7000? Would later firmware (1018) solve the problem? What do you suggest?

Thanks for your help.

Press Tools->Subtitle settings->Encoding then you play a video this subtitle

Thanks, I'll try that.
I have also tried UTF-8 coded subtitle. TV showed all characters right.
Srt files can be converted with text editor (ex. notepad, Word, PSPad ...) or converter (ex. Simple Text Encoding Converter ...)

I have followed quoted instructions and problem is solved. :P Codepage is selectable. There is no need to rename subtitles to .sub.
