Ok, hi everyone! I'm sophia and I got recently a TV as a gift. It's a
UN40FH5005GXZS5GX or just UN40FH5005 according to the site
Now the TV looks cool and all and I use it mainly for my PS4, but I can't deactivate the backlight dimming you get on every picture mode except Movie. I'm ok with how Movie mode looks, but I want to use Game Mode and that mode has the dimming thing. I made some research and found out about how to get into service menu, but I don't get the option needed.
I live on Chile so I guess we get the American version of this TVs.
Any help? I can't stand the backlight dimming but I can't give the TV back either. I would love every piece of advice. The software of the TV is the 1004 version. I don't know if there's any update or something but I will seriously appreciate your help. Thanks and this is my first post

There's no such option in service menu. AFAIK the only way to disable completely backlight dimming is to use Movie mode as you said. You still can get much less dimming in other modes by disabling Dynamic Contrast in "normal" menu, but nothing better

Eco mode just "dim more" but doesn't disable automatic dimming at all.
Sure that if eco mode is set to maximum, backlight is at its lowest level and can't dim anymore but everything is... dark!

That's your problem. Don't set Eco mode to maximum. Set it to off:)

Eco Mode is disabled and I still get dimming on the TV. I'm getting use to the Movie mode but Standard has a better contrast overall. Not that I cannot adjust Movie mode to get close to Standard, but still. I read somewhere that I should be able to disable Dimming on Service Menu but it seems I can't, based on your opinions.
Both options disabled still get me dimming. God damn, who invented that crap? Actually, who invents it and doesn't give you an easy option to disable it!? /rant
Thanks for the answers, guys

I think there is one simple solution to your problem... Unfortunately I am almost sure you won't be happy with it...

No don't give it back. Change the user to the one that doesn't notice the problem

I don't see it

User as User Mode? So are you saying I should just use Movie mode and that's it? I read that you could disable the dimming via service mode but it seems my model can't
