Hi

I have UE55HU7200 connected with DENON receiver by HDMI and optical cable.

I have problem to get 5.1 sound on my Denon. When I play any movie with 5.1 sound I get stereo only.

On TV audio setting I can select PCM and DTS Neo . Dolby and DTS options are greyed.

Any ideas how to get 5.1 sound?

If you're expecting TV to passthrough 5.1 sound from HDMI source to optical, that's simply not possible on Samsung's (=downmixed to stereo). You can get surround only from internal tuner/media player.

You can't expect a 5.1 sound from an app that doesn't provide 5.1 sound :)

I think that aps which I use provide 5.1 sound.
It was working for a moment and I had 5.1 sound on dlna client and ds video . But I do not know why it is stopped.

I have also these apps on samsung bluray and there is 5.1 sound.

Untrue. My old B650 has no problem with passing surround sound from PS3 via hdmi to TV and then via Toslink to Yamaha amplituner. Yamaha DD decoder indicate Dolby Digital 5.1@ 640kbps.
PS3 is configured to override HDMI EDID (additionally DD 5.1 is selected). Both B650 and Yamaha have no problem with DD stream. Of course B650 is playing it in stereo only ;)
But..... my new UE55H6640 does not playing it properly. It just not playing HDMI DolbyDigital at all. TV indicate that there is Dolby Digital stream (DD not greyed out and selectable in sound settings) but when you select it, it just playing silence. Yamaha displays "Unsupported audio" or something like that. I wrote an email to samsung support already, because i think it's a bug and definitely it SHOULD work.

Cheers!

You're right it was still possible on (very) old models but not anymore, at least from E series. Now faking EDID will make Dolby Digital (never DTS) selectable but with no sound output at all. It's not a bug, it's wanted behavior (don't ask me why, but probably due to commercial pretexts in HDCP/HDMI agreements) and that's how it goes on ALL recent Samsung TVs :) (search forum there's already some reading about that)
