Starting an application under X

I am trying to start an application under X. Maybe even the basic terminal. Anyone that can help with this?
I did try a simple DISPLAY=:0 /mnt/bin/ash
Any help appreciated

I remmember @denny made jumbo progress in this on F series.

we already played around with this but remember that such app will NOT have ANY access to sound system

Also NO input from remote etc.

Well. being able to display an app on screen under the running X it is a good start. Any steps I can reproduce?

yeah check my ubuntu tutorial

You can display but don't treat as "the start" it's the END

I did see the ubuntu tutorial. That is very very interesting. However I am looking if there is a way to use the existing running X server same like exeAPP and exeTV do.

It looks you did "see" but you didn't read/understand the tutorial

It describes how to use EXISTING X server
