UE40C6000 - reset/clear thumbnail cache

Hello,
(please dont
at the subject...)
This is about the only really technical expert forum I have found that might answer my question.
I am sure you have seen this question already asked a few times
but I have not really seen any answer that helps me, so please don't be too hard on me. Really, I have searched. I even saw something about a thumbnail cleaner app, but I don't understand it. (I'm not a programmer nor linux sysadmin of any kind).
My problem is obviously that my TV has stopped creating these thumbnails. I watch videos & movies directly from a HDD plugged into USB1.
1) I would like to understand where these thumbnails are stored. Is the cache indeed stored on the TV on some flash or SSD, or hidden somewhere on the USB device itself? I have the impression the TV has a cache per USB device because when I connect another HDD it starts generating new thumbs.
2) Is it possible to reset/clear the thumbnail cache just with operating the remote control?
(I know it is possible to reset, from what I learned from reading erdem_ua's comments, but it seems you kind of must know how to hack into the TV)
Hope you can help me out.
Thanks.
