Sooner or later Samsung WILL UPDATE Netflix app. This (NEW) Netflix app will REQUIRE newer firmware It will simply NOT WORK on "older" firmware Just check forum Samsung does it ALL THE TIME

Nope you are wrong with your TV you should be able to access service menu with normal remote also wiki describes multiple ways (including using Android phones) for accessing service menu

Well you can but the problem is that this update is REQUIRED if you want Netflix to work Old version simply stops working
