On http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/How_To ... re_Updates, people are advised to turn off routes to msecnd.net.

This hostname does not point to a proper hostname, though the domain is registered (to M*soft, Inc.) and dig only finds an A entry.

Question is, does the domain mentioned contain a typo or the like or does blocking the other three hostnames (which have single matching ip addresses each) suffice?

It's not a typo. Apparently the tv may make requests to subdomains hosted there and blocking the whole domain takes care of it
