Re: Extended Service Menu after Enabling Hotel Mode
Excellent guide, thanks guys! :) I now have PVR working with an SSD Drive, runs really nicely. One quick question, the final step was to disable Hotel Mode again. That worked successfully, however I am now unable to get back to the Hotel Mode menu to re-enable it again (MUTE-1-9-9-ENTER). Is Hotel ...

Re: BD-C8200/XEF Blue-ray player
serial TTL-Coupler? Could you enlighten me about the pin connections? Read this, it should be self explanatory. I did this with my BD-C5500. Connect the cables to UARTRX and UARTTX. http://buffalo.nas-central.org/index.php/Use_a_Nokia_Serial_Cable_on_an_ARM9_Linkstation Being a Blue-ray player with...

The second image shows the pinheader for the serial console. You could attach a serial TTL-Coupler to it to see the output. Would be interesting...
I would suppose the Software of these devices have more in common with the Samsung TV-Sets than with the Samsung Blueray-Series.

Re: Low awareness of SamyGO
Hhm, indeed there are only few tips & tricks f?r US-Models around here.
I could contribute as i own a PN50C550. But it seems it has some firmware differences compared to the european model PS50C550.
Btw: I am german, but actually living in the US..

Re: Hacking BD-C5500/XAA (serial console, firmware dump, etc...)
here is a not complete dump from an unknown user, it is firmware 1013.4: http://www.ulozto.net/5277274/7630-bsp-c5500wwb-1013-4-84f1-72e7-convert-7500-11c3-bin It?s a almost complete flashdump, with the files for the mtd?s in sequential order. I extracted several parts of it, you can download it her...

Re: Hacking BD-C5500/XAA (serial console, firmware dump, etc...)
I have a bd-c6900 with internet@tv. I tried to root it with the same approach as for C650 tv set but it failed. Any idea what happens ? What is the mount point in the root file system of the usb stick ? Is the usb-stick read-only, when it gets mounted ? This is the info from the serial console when...

Re: Hacking BD-C5500/XAA (serial console, firmware dump, etc...)
Be careful with the "envwrite"-command. I ended up with a Model-CODE "UNKNOWN" and a deleted STARTUP-Variable, which leads to that the device stops at the CFE-Prompt. Fortunately I had logs of what I did, so i could restore the STARTUP-Variable. Variable Name Value --------------...

Re: Hacking BD-C5500/XAA (serial console, firmware dump, etc...)
Getting access to the serial console is the starting point for hacking of almost every linux-based embedded device. Things you should start with if you are really interested in hacking you C-8200: 1. Try to find a service manual for the device itself or a similar one (with almost the same features) ...
