i have been tweaking my Tvs voltages a bit now, have got a better black level (lowered VScan) and i was able to slightly reduce the overall brightness by reducing Va to the minimum
the ABL seems much less dramatic now, without changing any settings

yes i agree about the ABL, however on my set its only realy apparent when watching the built in freeview, everything else (all via PS3) seems substantially better

Registered here to report my sucess on this! I have a UK PS51E 530 which does not have an ethernet support, or WiFi networking enabled I've got the same model. Did you notice if there were any options to disable auto dimming? Im suffering from the famous auto dimming issue and its driving me nuts. ...
