Re: Samy Going Open source (sh4 A7/8/9)

Hi Tom, nice to read you again. :D Funny to notice that this thread started with the willingness to fix and improve a smart TV and ended with a very basic screen. Here DVB-T2 will be deployed in 2024. I never had issues with CEC. I used it successfully with my PI and a Chomecast for years. My TV is ...

Re: 40A856 optical output ?

Yes you are probably right as I don't see why HDMI audio would need to go throught a DAC. Do you know if it's possible to read the hdmi data from STi710x ? Writing to spdif is possible because wiselink does that. If it's possible to read hdmi in could be possible to run a passthrought daemon outside...

Re: 40A856 optical output ?

Hi, I found that sound (incl from hdmi) is processed first throught a mt8291 chip. I didn't find its datasheet. Anyway this chip is described as a stereo chip so I guess it does just ignore any mutichannel input. So I suppose it's really a hardware limitation as this chip doesn't use any firmware (a...

Re: Any experience with raspberry PI (XBMC) ?

Yes it would be interesting to catch the shutdown process. For now I changed the mount options on the RPi (sync) so it can survive to power failure. No problem so far. So don't start hacking on this except you have other requests. I think it can be usefull : -to cleanly stop Samygo services -to auto...

Re: 40A856 optical output ?

Hi Tom, I understand. I looked deeper in the service menu and found a MFI section in the advanced settings. MFI sounds like Mediatek Firmware. Inside this section there is a strange R_FULLBYPASS setting. Do you think it's safe to play with this setting ? Anyway I'm ready to investigate more on this....

Re: Samy Going Open source (sh4 A7/8/9)

Hi Tom, nice to read you again. :) Yes open source project based on neutrino* players would be hard to maintain. Too many forks and you have to learn german. And xbmc is too much heavy to run on our hardware. Rpi is really the minimal hardware requirement for it. Anyway my nfs root is still ready to...

Re: HDMI EDID hack to allow 5.1 passthrough

No way : ac3 passthrought is not working with xbox too (A-Series). (I disabled EDID detect then selected dolby digital output in xbox but got no signal at the receiver)

Re: HDMI EDID hack to allow 5.1 passthrough

Ok did buy a yamaha ysp 1400 and connected it to the tv toslink output. No ac3 or dts passthrought... Maybe there is something wrong with Openelec because I think this should work with DSeries. At least for ac3.

Re: Samy Going Open source (sh4 A7/8/9)

Hi, I had the chance to test this. But I think Tom didn't have a lot of spare time to work on this. Basically it was possible to watch TV using open source software. But a lot of rework of exiting players was needed to make them work in a TV. These players were designed for SAT receivers not TV. I h...
