BD-C8500/XEE to BD-C8500/EDC possible

Hi,
recently I purchased an BD-C8500. Sadly it's an /XEE model and won't let me watch german DVB-C channels.
I'm looking for a way to switch the model to a working one.
So far i'm thinking if this would be possible via the debug console over service port.
Up to now this is purely theoretical, since i don't have the hardwar (cable/adapter) yet.
Has anybody tried something like that?
Does anybody know, where i can find the RX, TX, GRND pins on the BD-C8500?
