Uninstalling recommended app (YouTube)

Hi Everybody,

After searching a lot through the internet, I am resigning to the fact that apps in the recommended section cannot be uninstalled. I want to do this because my YouTube app has started saying that a new update is found and that I should turn the tv off and then on to do the upgrade. Not to mention that it does nothing no matter how many times I turn the tv off and on :(

Iv'e seen that apps in the recommended section get uninstalled and installed according to the selected "info link country" in the service menu.

1. Can anyone recommend a "info link country" that does not have YouTube as recommended app? I can then change to this country and then back to my country to simulate uninstall and install.

2. Is there a place on the web from where I can download standard Samsung Smart TV apps (as they are available in their app store) and then install them as custom apps?

3. Can someone suggest any other method to resolve this issue?

My setting were:
Model = UA40D5500
Firmware = 1015.0
info link country = None
Local set = AD_Singapol
I am in Singapore

I've tried following:

1. Changed info link country to UK and back to None.
2. Changed info link country to Greece and back to None.
3. Changed Local set to Localset_UK and back.
4. Did a reset on tv by pressing Exit button for 15 sec.
5. Installed nYouTubeHD3D Widget which always says that it failed to connect to YouTube server when a video is selected to be played (Searching videos works fine.)
6. Upgraded firmware to 1019.0

The problem remains there only with YouTube app (I have the app with the black icon. It was working fine till 20 Mar 2012 (Yesterday))

Regards
Yasir

Exactly the same problem here on a UE32D5520.
Several people have reported this on the CNET Samsung forum, but they have only been able to tell me to "contact support".
I'm not happy as my television is brand new!
Maybe if enough people report it to Samsung support they will do something?

Ok friends, I am still waiting for any help / pointers from this forum.

In the meanwhile, I logged a service request on Samsung website. They were quick to call. But the representative said they are experiencing this issue with YouTube and Samsung is working on it. They will get back to me when they have a solution. For the time being, they want me to wait.

1. It would be worth a try if somebody can specify an "info link country" that does not have YouTube as recommended app.
2. It will also help if someone can point to a place from where standard Samsung Smart TV apps (as they are available in their app store) can be downloaded on PC. We can then try installing it as custom app.

I have a similar problem. In my case, I would like to uninstall the RedBull application.

not really checked but i think youtube is everywhere recommended for some reason...

use maybe the search function or just read a bit around in the forum, its not a personaly support service here. btw. viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2721&p=28898#p28312[quote]

It seems that the YouTube issue is all over!!!

Today when I tried to check the YouTube, a message displayed "updateing...". it was like this for nearly 15 minuets. stopped it and when next I started smarthub, message displayed installing widget after instaltion completed, a messaged displayed 1 application installed and 1 removed!!!

The removed application was Aljazeera TV and the installed one was YouTube!! Now the YouTube is not working, it dissplays the message "update available power off...".

After a reboot when trying to check Samsung apps, installed 9 apps and removed SamyGo as well!!

Now I have installed Installed SamyGo again but Aljazeera disappeared from Samsung site!!

Thanks arris69,

you pointed to the right resource http://pastebin.com/5YEq3wzR. Somehow, I was unable to search this even after googling and reading through the forum for two days.
I downloaded http://d2s7bi153972zt.cloudfront.net/se ... outube.zip
and installed it. It is working like a charm!

Thanks everybody for help.
