Sort of. I have this problem only on extreme angles on my 55D8000.
A friend's 46D7000 doesn't seem to have this problem at all.

This usually depends on panels used. Cheap panels (TN) have a very small vieweing cone. IPS and PVA panels have a wider angle.
The strange thing is that looking with a microscope at the 46 and 55 panels, they seem to be the same panel type.
I then guess it's a polarization effect due to different polarizers.

"Ultra clear" is probably a brand name.

Panel types are:

TN (quick response <5ms) cheap and small viewing angle, only 262144 possible colors (6 bit)
PVA/S-PVA good color gamut, 8 bit color, medium-expensive
IPS/S-IPS expensive, 8 or 10 bit color depth, normal or wide gamut.
H2-IPS wide gamut, very expensive, best color depth 10 bit.

Thera re also some other panel types around.

The best way is to display a white or grey image and then take a picture of the panel (with a good zoom).

I meant a bigger zoom and a focused image.

Anyhow I checked 46" and 55" D series panels and they are both PVA HQ panels. I don't know about the 40".

To know that you must get a picture of the pixels like in this picture:
