Re: Alternatives of Samsung WiFi Link Stick

Post by erdem_ua »

I am try tp compiling this kernel modules since morning :)
Cowen's kernel tool-chain method is defected on my tv and I couldn't how to make it work.
So you are overtake me :D
I adjust attachment size to 2MB, you can EDIT your post to attach rt2870sta.ko.

TV will not pick up this beat because exeDSP is also filter WiFi ID's AFAIK. There is also some configure files that ajdust WiFi properties but I don't remember where I saw them.

But it's not a big problem. This will give us NFS / SAMBA / Djmount via Wireless!
Did you checked up if Yahoo Widgets are working or not? And what about connection test on settings menu?

Thanks

I am glad to say, that my (actually my friend's) Edimax EW-7318USg USB WiFi dongle is working very well with my B650. It is fully configureable in the menu system, and you can freely access the network as it can be done with a cable connection.

I modified B650's firmware (some of you probably know what is run_me scipt), then in the starting script located together with my_rt73.ko file in /mtd_rwarea directory, I put the sequence of rmmod/insmod that you can find in my previous post.

The only disadventage of my method is using a dongle that must have a VID/PID equal to the values stored in my_rt73.ko module.
I am playing with it only for a few hours so there might be more problems, but I cannot see any at the moment.
Thanks everyone for this forum and this thread.

Yesterday i bougth the D-Link System DWA-140 802.11n Adapter [ralink rt2870] and i can confirm that it is working with
arris69 SamyGO-WiFi-Extension-Addon.zip.
Since i have only telnet access it was a bit tricky switching back and forth from cable to wireless.
But once the module is loaded (of course you have to remove the original one) and you have done

Code: Select all

ifconfig ra11n0 up
you can configure in tv menu -> setup switch your wired network with wpa.
Even 802.11n is working.

@arris69
Would be great, if this could be integrated in your SamyGO-UPNP-Extension.zip.
I think this could be a kind of general extension.
I saw there is already planned to integrate samba and ssh.
Good work.

Regards

Hubert

I am looking for integrating those kernel modules to firmware.
It's different than patching exeDSP. New addition of files could change FAT is problem because script is OS independent. I can mount image on linux and could inject kernel modules but this breaks windows compatibility. I am thinking on alternative ways to inject module to in the TV.
