BBC iPlayer requiring Samsung TV software update

My E Series TV has auto-update disabled. This evening, BBC iPlayer has a dialog box, saying that Samsung TVs require up-to-date SW to run BBC iPlayer. I clicked "OK, Got it" but iPlayer does not load. I don't really want to update my SW as I will lose root access. But I do want to use iPlayer. Is there a workaround? My SW Ver ends in 2004.1
