Hi Tom,

I am very interested in this project !!
I have spent a lot of time searching the best media center for sh4 architecture due to the duckbox xbmc is too heavy for my stx7105 STA box.
ShowTime seems a good solution for me and hope that you will publish it soon.

Suzuke, to make things clear even ShowTime is too much for a STx7109. It may be usable after substantial rework, but nobody have enough time and enthusiasm to do such work. And too few potential users are interested (I mean in samygo community). If you want to do some progress, just let me know. Sorry otherwise.

Thanks for your reply.
Here is my project: porting debian wheezy to sh4
https://sites.google.com/site/debiansh4/home

And this is my github. Currently I have only porting kernel 2.6.32.59, duckbox and debian wheezy to support my pdk7105(stx7105) STB.
https://github.com/suzuke/pdk7105-tdt/commits/pdk7105
https://github.com/suzuke/kernel-pdk7105/tree/master

I plan to porting showtime on it, but I don't know much about directfb and libstgles.
If I have any of your help, it may reduce lot of time to porting showtime on my stx7105 STB.
Any hint or help is appreciated !

An update for those who still owns this old good TV.

After 4 years of inactivity I was forced to remove the dust from this project.
Czech broadcasters are changing from DVB-T to DVB-T2.

I bought an Amlogic S905 box (Mecool KII) and connected it to HDMI.
But the TV with original SW showed substantial incompatibilities.
Probably HDMI-CEC negotiation ended up with no sound after couple of seconds,
so HDMI-CEC (Anynet+) had to be switched off.
After 5 or 10 minutes signal several times dropped out and started again.

I tried with my test image: no problems at all !!!

So the recent update adds:
- ability to select HDMI
- decoding remote control from Micom instead of LiRC
- simplistic HDMI-CEC implementation

No progress with OSD in HDMI mode - not yet possible.

So the TV now works as a dumb HDMI monitor with programmable HDMI-CEC.
This is all I want.

Eventually I will port my changes on the top of
https://github.com/popazerty/meta-openarp

Let me know if somebody interested.

Hi Tom,

nice to read you again. :D

Funny to notice that this thread started with the willingness to fix and improve a smart TV and ended with a very basic screen. Here DVB-T2 will be deployed in 2024. I never had issues with CEC. I used it successfully with my PI and a Chomecast for years.

My TV is still working fine. Maybe you could suggest me a solution to this problem. I use a small 5.1 sound system (5PDIF connection to the TV + a Chromecast). Nowadays streaming services use EAC3 for 5.1 and my system is supporting AC3 only. So basically I only get stereo with Netflix, Prime, etc...

I plan to replace the Chromecast with an Android TV box that could downscale EAC3 soundtracks to AC3 and that would offer long term updates. I found Xiaomi TV S and Shield TV from Nvidia that could do the job. But I should consider a box that can integrate DVB-T2 as well. Crazy complicated to buy stuffs that can last for years. Anyway the TV is reliable.

Yes, it is. I still use it with the Mecool KII android/DVB-T2 box.
I never had issues with CEC.
Actually the issues of the original fw with HDMI CEC disappeared. I don't know if a fw update of Mecool KII did the job
or it was just a change of TV configuration (I gave up controlling the set-top-box by the TV remote over HDMI CEC)

Hmm, I have no ideas here.
