First firmware update for D-series have appeared on Samsung UK website:
T-GAP8DEUC-1008.1 for 8-series UExxD8xxx
T-GAPDEUC-1008.1 for 7-series.
So there is different firmware for D7xxx & D8xxx, unlike C-series which had common fw for 6/7/8.

LOL +1
Re: First D-series updates
Are you sure the only difference isn't the filename? I haven't checked myself but someone at AVForums said a binary comparison showed them to be identical.
Re: First D-series updates
No I didn't download/check. Both fw's are listed as 125.68MB, so it may be the case that they are the same with just different filename.

two encrypted files are identical?idbirch wrote:...someone at AVForums said a binary comparison showed them to be identical.

Re: First D-series updates
OK, I downloaded to look. Sizes are identical but they are definitely not interchangeable.
It may be the same (plain) firmware with different encryption key, or different plain firmware with same or different key.
Impossible to tell looking at the encrypted data!

Re: First D-series updates
Thanks for checking gooseye. I've installed 1008 on my 46D7000, is there anything I can do to help with any kind of initial discovery or are we boned until the new key is found?
Re: First D-series updates
If you ready to test (just test, not hack) your TV (it is important for us), could you make few tests, they are absolutely undangerous and does not brick your TV? i mean, could you check (only check) is there possible to hack D series tv like C series is?idbirch wrote:... my 46D7000, is there anything I can do to help with any kind of initial discovery ...
Test no1
Could you try export channel settings to ext3 formatted usb?
If you get files, please, upload all what you get to rapidshare.
Test no2
Download this file: (it is for C series, but it is applicable to D series too)
Code: Select all
1. Make USB (>1Gb) image with attached win32diskimager.
2. Power off TV
3. Attach USB to TV
4. Power on TV
5. Go to media player
6. Select USB
If you see any "movies" like PartitionSwitch_0_0 listed (you can`t watch it, it isn`t a movie at all) - congratulations - your TV could be hacked.
You do not brick your TV with this test-usb, it does nothing for TV (i`m 100% sure)
If you do not see any files on USB, write us anyway. Thank You!
