E8000 series has camera onboard!

Post by erdem_ua »

It looks like good movement that adding a camera to TV.
We could use that camera for anything! Like movement sensor or convert TV a hidden surveillance cam! :-D

I also wonder that cameras capability.
Does it an HD Cam with AVC encoder like other Samsung TV cameras?
Or they just put a USB HD camera and encoding stream with integrated h.264 encoder on MB?

I need one ES8000. Who want to donate me one? :-D

Camera captures 1280x720@30 fps. Information is gathered by MediaInfolite. Webcam video quality is not good compared with a Logitech webcam, picture has too much grain and not very sharp.

Edit : Captured video file is under X:\CameraApp\Camera folder of your usb flash disk and file extention is .vu.
File is named in this format : Video+2 digit numbers-Year+Month+Date (Video01-2012610.vu )

No, it's not.

The D series camera is MUCH better!

The ES8000 camera SUCKS!!! (terrible auto-white balance and low resolution compared to D series one!)

2 firmware upgrades of cam and now it finally seems to respond better and white-balance is fixed. the resolution is indeed terrible for such expensive tv.
it outputs 720p but looks more software then hardware. its a shame. hopefully we can mod this in the future to a full hd cam 5MP instead of the 2MP it has now.

I posted this also here (viewtopic.php?f=53&t=5797&start=150#p42170) but after I found this Thread I think my issue belongs more to this thread here...

Internal Camera issue while SamyGo installed - ES7000/8000

I have an UE40ES7000 @ 8090 (T-ECPDEUC_2003.4) with an build in internal Camera. I recently wanted to test the cameras function and found out that SamyGO prevent that the camera of working properly.

I dubble checked this:
1.) Set the TV back to factory default
2.) SamartHub was clear again.
3.) SamyGo app was still there (but not installed)
4.) Reinstalled the SmartHub apps
5.) Camera works with the Camera app of Samsung
6.) Installed SamyGo again.. SamyGo works instantly...
7.) But right after SamyGo installed the Camera refused to work properly (no live-view, no photo recording, only Video recoring is possible but only in "blinde mode" without live-view)

I think that the internal camera is installed as an USB device and because of SamyGO something gone wrong...

Could anyone confirm this behaviour?

Seams to be a script issue of 01_01_catch_crap.init
Therefore discussion again here: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=5797&p=42511#p42511

Finished here...Regarding "WEBCAM not working..."

Hmm yes, the camera got better, but I agree with dajojo: it's more software than hardware. Optical resolution is much lower imho.
Still the STC-1100 is way better.

Note: 55F8000 has an embedded camera too. It's bad too.
