Wireless media stick

Post by gregoire »

Anyone heard of the Wireless Media Stick from hsti.com? They actually encourage hacking the stick. Sounds like an opportunity to me (to anyone who can hack it actually).

Bought it on ebay. Should solve a couple of things like samba or nfs. I think they are working on recording too. That's all I need. Will report later.

Received it today. Worked like a charm. (few exceptions here and there)

Just wanted to say; this gadget has potential.

For me, it's not. It's priced $150! Don't waste your money bros.
You can buy a Android 4.0 ICS tablet for $99 that decompress FULL HD video. and have HDMI output!
Don't you believe?

Try ebay, much cheaper. But I agree. It's not for everybody. I am very happy with it since I don't have to hack my tv anymore to have certain features. Don't buy it you don't like it. To each his own. I just thought I'd help some people who really want some features but are tired of those firmware upgrades breaking everything. I still think you guys do a fantastic job.

EDIT: I clicked to see if I could by that item. Guess what it would cost if it were shipped to me? $150. I am not kidding.

Don't buy ainovo tablets. Those are using MIPS cpu, not arm and most of Android application doesn't work on it.
Instead, you can try to but All Winner A10 tablets from same price, have powerful ARM core and support QuadHD HDMI movie decoding :)
