PVR for D5520 - Beginner's Questions

Post by Leedsgreen »

Dear All,

I'm keen to add PVR functionality to my Samsung UE32D5520 television. The procedure posted on here appears quite straightforward but I would like to ask a couple of questions before I attempt it:

1. Will the instructions for installing PVR functionality for the D5500 work on my D5520? The D-seires compatibility table would suggest so (i.e. UExxD55xx).
2. The guide says PVR is 'capable to record only from DVB-T and DVB-C tuner'. Does that mean HD channels can be recorded or just SD?
3. Does the fast HDD need to be formatted to FAT32 (or exFAT or NTFS)?
4. Is there anyway to set up folders to place the recordings in, using the remote controller, or is that not possible?
5. Once PVR function is added, will TV turn on and off as normal (via remote)?
6. Is there any chance the TV can be bricked this way (or is that only when updating the firmware to install SamyGo apps etc)?

Thanks very much for any help,

hi,

1. yes
2. yes, you can make also DVB-S2 recordings. Means = PVR from all built-in tuners.
3. You don`t need to do anything, TV forces to reformat it (data loss!) mandatory to xfs format.
4. Nope
5. Yes.
6. Yes, only if you do something more in service menu...
