.....I have TV SUMSUNG SMART TV UE40ES5500WXXH and Wi-Fi USB Stick D-Link DWA-140 rev B2 and NETGEAR DGND3300v2 N300 Wireless Dual Band ADSL2+ Modem Router. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx - released in April 2010 and supported until April 2013.
ONE MORE TIME I CONFIRM THE Wi-Fi USB Stick D-Link DWA-140 rev B2 WORKS ON TV SUMSUNG SMART TV UE40ES5500WXXH.
I make it via Hardware Way (by changing PID/VID), but must see below....This two posts - informations is VERY IMPORTANT in my case:

using antoher pc I was finally able to compile and load the driver.
My stick is DWA140 HW Rev B2

From ralink site, I donwloaded the driver for
2011_0407_RT3070_RT3370_RT5370_RT5372_Linux_STA_V2.5.0.2
compiled it fine (just warnings) installed, and then loaded the module.
Just one note, the module name is rt5370sta.
Module loaded correctly, dmesg without errors."
In my case the same PC and no warnings.
As result of above this command (No 7 or in 2nd guide No 11) must change from:
sudo insmod os/linux/rt3070sta.ko
to

sudo insmod os/linux/rt5370sta.ko viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14&start=240

I think the b2 version doesn`t like the full hex if you program.
@ luca can you try aggain using the code I used to confirm if the b2 version is working or not. If not there are different firmwares on the b2
