From reading a bit more after I posted it, no one seems to know what chip is the eeprom on this device and I'm not even sure this would work. I've read this post viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5436&p=39370&hilit=brick#p39370 and the only option seems to be going through the 3.5mm service port on the back. I've ordered the cables to do that but will it word if I haven't enabled RS232 debug in the service menu?Yesterday I got a LE52A656 from a friend, he told me the capacitors were gone on it so I replaced them and the tv came back to life.
Being the genius that I am, I thought I'd check out the service menu. To my knowledge I didn't change anything but when I reset the tv I was faced with a purple and green screen. Found a similar problem on a polish site http://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic2427223.html and that has a picture on it.
Anyway, tried turning it off a couple of times but kept coming back to that screen. I'd already updated the firmware to the latest, thought doing it again might reset everything but now when I press the power button the power led goes off after about 5 flashes but the panel doesn't come on.
Got the tv open again and the caps are all still fine. Short of phoning an engineer (don't have the money to get it fixed) I'm wondering if shorting the eeprom would sort it?
Really gutted about this and feel like a proper idiot! Thanks.
