boot loop after changing region and smart hub location H6400

Post by MyT »

Hello,
my TV keeps restarting after I changed local set and smart hub location.
At first, after only changing the local set, I think everything worked fine and I could go on to change smart hub settings.
After changing smart hub location, every time I hit "smart hub" the tv turned off and reset.
I tried to change location back to "all applications" or something similar, and since then my tv keeps rebooting.
imo, after the tv turns on it tries to load the smarthub apps menu and thats when it fails, so it restarts.
The tv works for a few seconds (shows image and sound), but does not respond to the remote except for powering off.
I can't get to any menu so factory resetting is also not possible.

any ideas?

You have to search for eeprom reset (short circuit on some legs)

I've looked it up, do H series have it too? How do I find it?
Also, I think I read somewhere that I'm gonna need a photo of my old settings, do you know which exactly?

Thank you very much. If I do reset eeprom I'd take a picture of it so you could post it in the wiki :)

Better you take high res pictures of 8-leg chips on your motherboard. Labels are to readable. If not, please write down labels on chips by hand.

After opening the TV up and trying two times we got cold feet
So problem still exists, but I've got the pictures for you.

Did you followed procedure like described? unplug from electricity, make short circuit and keep it holding, plug tv power up tv, wait until it fully boots up and you will screen on, just then release circuit and power off to standby mode from remote control...

We had difficulties holding the wire in place, and my father got worried about short circuiting the ground and vcc by accident, so we gave up eventually.
Also, that's not exactly what the wiki describes, or at least not what I understood. We plugged in the TV, hold the wire in place, then turned on the TV and waited for a few seconds. First time the screen was black and nothing showed up (not even the smart TV logo), we waited a few seconds but nothing happend so we unplugged the TV.
Second try, the TV did show the smart TV logo and kept rebooting as usual.
I think my father didn't hold the wire steadily, but as I said he got cold feet so we gave up and hoping our warranty would cover it.

You have strongly follow procedure (i see, you really didn`t)

  • unplug from electricity (from wall!)
  • make short circuit and keep it holding
  • plug tv to wall and let it power up
  • wait until it fully boots up and you will see screen on
  • just then release circuit
  • power off to standby mode from remote control...
  • Then after you have TV in stand by mode, you have to enter service menu (info menu mute power) and set proper values there

Thank you for your detailed instructions, that's entirely different from whats written in the wiki (http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/UnBric ... PROM_Reset)
Hopefully I can convince my father to have another try :)

update: we tried it again, this time following your instructions.
First thing - after plugging the TV, it didn't boot up by itself - we had to power it up using the remote control.
After powering up, the usual "Smart TV" logo didn't show up, which we thought was a good thing. The IR led blinked a few times and then went off, and the screen didn't display anything even after half a minute or so... The IR was responsive (the led blinked when we pushed buttons) but no picture. couldn't access the service mode afterwards, and the bootloop continued.
So something different IS happening, but I guess that doesn't help us too much :(
