My 6530 updated this morning through it's connection to the internet rather than using a USB. First time it has ever done this, before allways had to use a USB. Anyway the PVR and Skype mod still work. I used the mod to change the tv to a different model, 6800.

I didn't use the hotel mode method, it wouldn't work with 3009.2 on my 6530, so I changed the model to a 6800 using the tv communicator method which enables PVR. I would add the url but the forum won't let me as I have just registered.

So if in doubt enable before upgrading.

I would say, you should keep 2004 if your favorite contents are 3d based. my preliminary comment, after 20 days use of 3011, would be as fallows taking into account that I own 55c8790

@3011, details and sharpness in pictures have been lost a bit but the color balance is much better, and it is more natural , I believe. probably, the best f/w is the one which has not been released yet

using a usb drive for pvr is a mess. instead, repartiton your 1 tb drive as 950 GB and 50 GB, install it to tv and let the tv format the 50 GB part as it wants (xfs)
so, you will be able to use your 950 GB for storage of files and 50 GB part for pvr. cheapest ans easiest way. btw, you can repartition an external drive (shrink, as it is called), without losing the data contained in.
