After rooting with this method Virtual USB allows me browse my Samba server, but when I try to play any video 'Loading...' appears top right, spins around, freezes, and then the TV stops responding. File CD-Gadget used to work for my on the same TV which I rooted using the Skype method, but suddenly stopped, so I tried re-rooting with the Skype method, and then this non-Skype method, but I have the 'Loading...' problem I described. I can play video fine on the samba server using other devices. Watchdogs is disabled from the service menu, and I have made sure all scripts in init.d directory beginning with 99 end in .dis.

The only issues that I can think of that occurred when rooting is that there was not network_type file in SamyGo dir before applying patch, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting from Wi-Fi and rebooting several times, never connected to LAN - sectroyer said in a post in this thread that this file does not matter though. Also when I tried to run sudo ./patch.sh in Ubuntu terminal output command not found, so I switched to Windows to use the bat file. Skype was also uninstalled several times, factory reset, service menu reset, smart hub reset, support >> diagnosis reset (no reset since non-skype root) when I attempted to re-root during Skype-method root BEFORE I tried this non-skype method.

Please tell me how to make Virtual USB play video.

Using Virtual USB I can browse my samba server fine, and see the files, but when I try to play anything 'Loading...' appears and then the TV freezes. I can play videos on the samba server fine from my tablet.

But that is a problem, I want to be able to access Samba using my Samsung TV. It had been working with File CD Gadget on the same TV for years, but then stopped working yesterday. I get have the same 'loading...' issue using File CD Gadget.

Please, there must be some way to fix this?

You should check if your /mnt folder is not full, too many useless logs inside for example.

Well, you're not the first one to report "crash on Samba" on H, but sectroyer always denies problems. No other idea on my side, no H here.
Didn't loading/crash issue start when you added some specific file(s) on server for example?

The crashing just started yesterday. Had been working for years on H, using Skype rooting method. I reset everything and rerooted Skype method, and non-skype method, still crashing when I try to play video.

Hmm. The server is mainly used for media, and I set Kodi up recently so we are mainly streaming video instead of manually adding video to the server before we watch. Because of this I do not think I added anything to the server recently.

If it helps Samba is running on DD-WRT firmware on Netgear R7000. I can test to see if it makes any difference if I test using a USB stick connected to the router for Samba, instead of the external HDD, but like I said, I am able to stream from it using my tablet fine.

Would it help if I put the TV back to stock firmware, and re-root all over again? Is that even possible?
