Nope, you can only hope for future "root on *very* latest firmwares". Meanwhile, don't forget to disable updates...

Thanks for letting me know. I have disabled updates on the router as there is no option to turn it off in the service menu.

It seems bluray firmware is named B-FB4HRDEUC, not really mentioned but I guess it may work anyhow then...
Some questions.
1. Is the rooting methods as safe as e.g. rooting method for f-series bluray? I.e. just remove USB when turned off and rooting is gone?
2. Is the "new skype" method the preferred rooting method? Or should I try the method in this thread?
3. The method in this thread requires wifi. Is that only while rooting? I.e is it possible to switch to LAN after root is enabled?
EDIT: realized there's a lan switch patch...

I made it a try on my BD-H8900n (B-FB4HRDEUC according to samsung.com), but it failed.
Can you see why?

nsmod_qca.sh
Code: Select all
echo " insmod_qca.sh begin"
insmod /mtd_cmmlib/WIFI_LIB/QCA/cfg80211.ko
insmod /mtd_cmmlib/WIFI_LIB/QCA/ath6kl_usb.ko ath6kl_p2p=0x19 debug_quirks=0x200 reg_domain=0x37
echo " insmod_qca.sh end"
EDIT: And yes - I'm using wifi - forgot to switch to wireless at the first try though...

Yeah, all looks okay. Your Bluray IS rootable with newest (still WIP) rooting technique just will not work with the one you just tried because you did NOT block updates "on time". Now you should block them IMMEDIATELY, confirm blockade is working and wait for release which will work for you without ANY problems

If you don't block you will NEVER get root working
P.S. You should also disable updates in normal menu

Ok, thx. Any idea of when that "technique" will be "released"?
My attempts didn't leave any "harmful stuff" on the device right?
Is there any idea to try the "new skype" variant on this device? EDIT: Seems too much stuff not available on my bluray for trying that out.
