Its annoying "feature" of internal media player: it scans for headers of every file on your resource, and you`re right, if you have a lot of files, process takes long. Say "thank you Samsung"...

Actually I hate the concept of separate Pictures, Videos and Music... this is so stupid... normal is to browse through ALL files and simply start playing whatever file I want...
I wonder how many years it takes yet to adopt this NATURAL behavior...

I am glad to see that there is a solution for MStar CPUs also.
After reading the wiki, I've successfully installed SamyGo and all other widgets available on the server.
I was able to FTP my TV and I was happy with it.

THANK YOU ALL for all the information.

Now, I have a question related to accessing samba shares from my TV and what can be done with this shares.

I have this small device, called NS-K330 which runs a small Linux, called SnakeOs with several packages such as:
- Transmission(torrent client)
- minidlna (DLNA server)
- Samba Server
- FTP Server
- Printer Server
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MultiFunction-N ... 802wt_1396

I was wondering if it is possible to play movies with my Samsung's UE45D5700 player directly from a USB Drive connected to this device (which can be considered a NAS) and shared using the SambaServer running on it.
If this can be done, can some one please let me know how can I do this from my TV.
I have installed SamyGo Extensions as described here:
http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/Root_a ... cpu_models

I have to mention that I did not disable any updates from the service menu. Actually I have never accessed the service menu yet and I managed to install the SamyGo as described in the wiki without any problems.
Also, some time ago I've updated the TV's firmware to v1019 (it came with v1018).

Basically, I need some step by step instructions for dummies on how to play movies directly on my Samsung TV from a network share (trying to avoid the use of a DLNA server which might not be running so well on the NS-K330) :D.

Thank you all.

After reading the wiki, one more time, I found out that I should remove the .dis suffix from the samba init script in the init.d folder.
In my case it was already enable and once I run the SamyGo widget, there is a new source available for selection called USB Server. Is that the "entry point" to the shares in the network?
I configured my samba server to allow anonymous connection. Is there a need for user name and password in the samyGo samba script?

Anyway, I did not managed to see the files on the USB yet as the "Loading message" never ends. It is a 1GB USB Flash connected to my NS-K330 Samba Server so, I thought, it should not take to long to display. I will be trying some more today.

As far i remember, SnakeOS needs to be chrooted to have proper samba server work. here were some complaints about samba on that google group, so i suggest you to be sure your server is ok.Can you mount samba shares on other linux mashine? If yes, might you have to write IP of server manually (look at the block "CHANGE ME!!!" inside the samba.init.

Spoza wrote:This "endless Loading... message" is actually not endless... it disappears eventually... after a REALLY LONG TIME...
I shortened the 'endless' waiting significantly by disabling the nfsmount.init, fuse.init and fusesmb.init script... so only the samba.init script is active. This also solved the problem that I was not able to browse shared folders. (I actually found this solution in one older thread about the shared folders browsing problem)

It still takes a few minutes to finish 'loading' the content of samba shares, but it works in the end!
It probably depends on how much content (how many files) you have on the samba shares. And maybe also on the speed of the USB device (since it "mounts" via the USB device - the 'sda1' folder)...
An interesting issue happens with my system.
I am running a SnakeOS on a NS-k330 device with Samba Server enabled sharing the contents of a USB Memory Stick .
When I run SamyGo with nfsmount.init, fuse.init and fusesmb.init disabled and only samba.init enabled, the USB Server does not appear on the list of sources on my Samsung TV.

However, when I have both nfsmount.init and samba.init enabled, I can see the USB Server as a source on my TV, but when I select it, I get the loading message that keeps Loading for several minutes until I finally give up and exit.
SO I did not managed to browse my shares from the TV even if I can see the USB Server source.
Does this mean thatthere is no need to enter the IP of the Samba manually in samba.init?
Are there any logs created on the TV that I can check in order to see what's wrong?

I have to mention that I am able to browse the share from my Windows7 computer.

I tried with the latest samba server version available for the SnakeOS (ver.3.6.1) and still the loading message does not end.

How can I tell if there is an issue with my TV or my SnakeOS (Linux) Samba server?

Any ideas, anyone?
