HI,

today I took a picture from the Mainboard of my UE40C65700 but sadly it seems that there is no unused connector which probably could be for Ex-Link ... also no JTAG connection :(

Another Idea I had was the scart output that this probably is Used for the Serial output.
As I saw the adaptor is completely used ... means all the pins are connected with cables ... and if you look at the pinout of a scart adapter PIN 10,12 and 14 are sed for Data connections.
Pin 10 = Data in, Pin 12 = Data out, Pin 14 = Data GND.

Probably the Ex-Link port is at the scart adaptor ... but as I read sometimes it is only TTL level so that a TTL to RS232 adaptor is needed. If it is only TTL level out the internal electronics could get Damaged if you connect it to a normal RS232 port.

I?m going to see if I can get access to a scope that I can take a look if there are any signals comming out of these pins .... Do I need to enable Serial output first at the Service Menue to get any kind of output or should there be some output anytime ?

Regards, Bastler

I don't know how C series working but in B series you needed to enable "debug" option from service menu to see strings at ExLink output...

After all exlink is use by samsung after sale service to repair TV , so there must be some kind of connection, but maybe it's a secret what they use for C series. Isn't there some usefull informations into Service Menu? Maybe we can find with service manual. USB port cant be used as exlink function?? I dont know

Can you explane more detail what did you do and what is your problem?
Off course before you make anything, you have to set rs232 to debug. disable Watchdog in service menu too. Just then you be able to look at the tv boot log.
Next questions:
1. Do You have slot on your TV main board like here? (its for audio jack connector)
2. Do you have an working ExLink cable (soldered or bought)?
3. Did you solder two jumpers as is shown in this picture?
4. If you still don`t get boot log, is here a exlink button as in this picture? If yes, try to press it and don`t release. Then open your telnet window and power on TV. You should see the debug log. Are the telnet parameters correct:

Code: Select all

Baudrate: 115200
Data bits: 8
Parity: none
Stop bits: 1
Flow Control: none
If you don`t have exlink port on mainboard, you can use datacable from cellphone and connect it (rx, tx, GND) directly to the mainboard.

The result of investigations is only debug log (checked on few C series TV), but no input success. No console, no TV boot process stop, any reaction to keyboard buttons press. Logs are here.

And what you have expected? Yes, no telnet (yet) ;)
