Maybe there is hope for some people that upgraded FW online, not through USB.
Go to the software update menu and select Alternative Software. If you upgraded online it should be possible to downgrade to the FW version you had before.
For me it was possible to downgrade from 1020 to 1019 (to which i upgraded online before). Unfortunately 1019 is still to new, but maybe it can help some other people...

On my TV "Alternative Software" menu item is disabled for some reason. What do I have to do to enable this menu? My TV is UE40D8000.

Not possible on 1018

As i already wrote somewhere, the hospitality hack isn`t new hack per se. you can think it is extended way to execute SamyGO extensions on recent firmwares. You always have to install SamyGO widget either on old firmwares or on latest.

they say in Wiki 'after 2012 models will be out'. Waiting for it, too.. got a D8000 with 1021 firmware...
